Old marries new

Henschke Cellar Door.

The goal was to create a new cellar door within the historic grain shed, blending the brand’s 150-year heritage with a modern touch. The space needed to embody the Henschke family’s rich history while offering a sense of connection, respect, and appreciation.

I used local materials timber, concrete, marble, and glass to reflect the family’s heritage, creating an environment with meaningful details, including a sculpture made from a century-old vine and custom glass light pendants representing the natural landscape. The concrete shield with the Henschke logo in the tasting room adds an understated elegance, while the marble-topped tasting bench symbolises the region’s red-brown earth.
